Suse Rose – By The Lily Pond

By The Lily Pond started by accident. Suse really just wanted to see if there was an effective alternative to the many store-bought hand creams she had tried. She was frustrated seeing half-empty plastic tubes (because you can never get that last bit out, right?), representing money she barely had, pile up in her garbage, while the skin on her hands still kept looking as if she had been in fisticuffs from being so dry and cracked. She started her research, tried out recipes & became an instant "convert". She continued learning the ropes & started formulating herself, converted all her family, drew a picture & thought of a name & thus By The Lily Pond got started.

Suse is always looking to expand the range of products By The Lily Pond offers. In the very near future, she will be unveiling a new moisturising cream for extra sensitive skin. She is also currently experimenting with formulating moisturising soaps, & has a long list of other products she hopes to add in the future, such as cleansers, toners, shampoo bars & so much more...

When Suse is not in her lab experimenting with new formulations or tending her stall at various local markets, she enjoys life with her partner & the two cats that live with them, Andromeda & Wilfred. She loves dabbling in a variety of creative endeavours, including singing, pencil drawing, photography & studying pop culture. Having disabilities that limit her suitability for structured employment, founding By The Lily Pond was also a wonderful opportunity for Suse to continue to contribute & be a part of life outside her four walls. It also turned out to be a great outlet for Suse's creativity, designing the logo, branding, labels, as well as an ongoing series of line drawings of the "adventures" of Lily & Andromeda, who live by the lily pond.
