Alex designs and creates nature-inspired glass art, using the Tiffany (copper foil) method in her home studio in Somerfield, Christchurch. Every product is handmade, and each piece is unique, depending on the colour mix and cut of the glass.
Alex is an outdoor enthusiast: as an outdoor educator, nature immersion guide, and bird lover, she spends a lot of her time in the bush. Alex has always enjoyed creative past-times, but only stumbled upon the perfect medium (glass!) when she was injured and unable to drive and go to the native forests around the South Island. Her Shards of the Forest collection began as a way to bring her favourite critters to her home!
Alex continues to gain her creative flow from her outdoor adventures, and is currently working on adding more native birds and plants to the Shards of the Forest collection. She is looking forward to creating some larger local landscape pieces alongside these smaller designs. When she's not making glass art, Alex keeps busy by enabling other individuals to spend time in local nature accessibly, instructs expedition tramping trips, heads to the mountains with her partner, and spends time with her playful little black cat.
